WINTER PARK, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2004) - The No. 25 University of North Florida women's soccer team tallied another win Wednesday night behind a pair of goals from sophomore midfielder Lena Mullaney as the Lady Ospreys (5-0-2) defeated Rollins College (5-2-0), 2-1.
Mullaney earned her first score of the season in the 7th minute, when she headed the ball into the net off junior forward Ali Blochl's corner kick. She tallied again 10 minutes into in the second half, taking a pass from senior midfielder Dana Hemke and nailing a shot into the right side of the net past Rollins' diving goalie.
Late in the second half, the Tars made a charge, earning a goal in the 82nd minute off a header by Keri Dye that found the back of the net. Alison Tradd assisted on the play, setting up the score with a free kick.
"It was a very hard fought game," UNF head coach Mike Munch said. "Even though they scored one late we were able to keep them away from the goal in the last eight minutes."
UNF's senior goalkeeper Haley Evans and Rollins' keeper Francesca Nicoloso each made three saves in the match.
The Lady Ospreys next face Peach Belt foe Lander on the road Saturday, followed by a match at Presbyterian College next Monday. UNF returns home for conference action against Georgia College at 2 p.m. Oct. 6.
