Aiken, S.C. (Sept. 25, 2004) - The University of North Florida women's soccer team showed it knows how to spread the wealth Saturday.
In its Peach Belt Conference opener, North Florida defeated the University of South Carolina Aiken 5-0 with five Lady Ospreys contributing goals.
Junior defender Lauren Winn began UNF's unanswered scoring rally when she dribbled past the USCA defenders and landed a shot in the net at the 11:25 mark.
Just over six minutes later, Winn assisted on the Lady Ospreys' second goal of the game, passing the ball to sophomore forward Erica Williams, who earned her first score of the season.
Junior forward Ali Blochl, who assisted on Winn's goal, came away with four points in the match, earning another assist and a goal of her own. Blochl's score, an unassisted tally at the 18:02 mark, was the Lady Ospreys' last of the first half, as they went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
Blochl helped add to that lead with her second assist of the match when she took a free kick in the 69th minute and sophomore midfielder Courtney Forson sent it into the back of the net.
Less than a minute later, junior defender Tessa Heer netted UNF's final goal, earning her first score of the year.
The North Florida defense also performed well against Aiken as the Lady Ospreys allowed their opponents only one shot in the match.
UNF continues its road stretch with a game at Rollins College next Wednesday, followed by more Peach Belt action at Lander on Oct. 2 and another road match at Presbyterian on Oct. 4.
