SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 26, 2005) - The No. 3 ranked UNF men's tennis team suffered another defeat Saturday, as they were beaten 6-3 by No. 7 USC Upstate. The loss drops the Ospreys to 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in Peach Belt Conference play.
"It looked like we broke down today," UNF head coach Tom Schrader said. "We didn't deal with the pressure that USC Upstate was applying, and we couldn't take advantage of any leads we had."
After doubles, North Florida found themselves down 2-1, and could not produce enough in singles to stage the comeback. No. 10 Jose Terrera and No. 26 Leo Gomes each were defeated in singles, and No. 15 Gomes/Escallon were also upset in doubles.
"We didn't play to win today," Schrader said. "It looked more like we were playing not to lose. Today just wasn't a good day for us."
The Ospreys will next be in action on March 2 as they host Northwood (Mich.) at 2 p.m.
