JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida saw it's three game winning streak versus Jacksonville University snapped Wednesday night, as the Dolphins scored a goal in the 81st minute breaking the 2-2 tie, and giving JU the victory.
UNF jumped out first when Terry Peak assisted Facundo Videla five minutes into the second period, giving the Ospreys the 1-0 lead. Ryan Potts would answer in the 53rd minute tying the game at 1-1. Martin Pettersson gave UNF a 2-1 lead after knocking a Barclay Powers pass past JU goalie Greg Williams. Jacksonville scored two unanswered goals off of corner kicks, the first by Tommy Krizanovic and the final one by Brian Blackburn sealing the victory.
With the victory, JU takes home the Dennis Viollet Memorial Cup. Coach Viollet was a soccer coach at both universities before passing away. "This was a hard fought game, said UNF Head Coach Ray Bunch. I thought that both teams showed a lot of heart, especially with having so many days in between games. They were just the shaper team tonight".
The Ospreys look to rebound Saturday when they host the University of Tampa at 7:30 p.m. at UNF Soccer Field.
