
Blochl powers UNF to 2-1 win

"It was great to see Ali score the game-winning goal," UNF head coach Mike Munch said. "On a senior day you always want to see your seniors play well, and they did that today. It was a great game. It was like it has been all season. We have had a lot of one-goal matches this season and we've learned that you have to keep fighting, especially against a team like Presbyterian. They're record isn't as good as it usually is, but they are always a well-coached team that plays hard. It was a good win for our girls."
The Blue Hose (6-8-1) struck first, when senior forward Elizabeth Ortstadt slipped the ball past a sprawling Rachael Howard to give Presbyterian a 1-0 edge - an advantage it would hold until the 88th minute of the match when UNF junior forward Lena Mullaney took advantage of a misplayed ball by Presbyterian goalkeeper Erin Sinkuler knotting the game at a goal apiece.
Neither the Blue Hose nor the Lady Ospreys were able to score in the first overtime period with Presbyterian holding a 2-1 advantage in shots. UNF outshot the Blue Hose 2-1 in the final stanza, including Blochl's game-winner.
For the match, the Lady Ospreys outshot Presbyterian 14-12. The Blue Hose recorded 10 shots on goal, while UNF tallied six.
Howard tallied seven saves to earn the win for the Lady Ospreys and improve to
UNF will wrap up its season on Monday when it plays host to former Peach Belt Conference rival Francis Marion. That match is scheduled to begin at
