Lady Ospreys fall in OT

 JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  - For the second consecutive match, the University of North Florida women's soccer team found itself in an overtime situation. This time, the Lady Ospreys came up just short, falling to former Peach Belt Conference rival Francis Marion 2-1 to close out the 2005 season.

"Today's match was like most all of our matches have been this season," UNF head coach Mike Munch said. "We spotted them a goal early and then had to fight back. We were able to do that, but when we got into the overtime period we just didn't have any breaks go our way. You hate to lose one like that. It's really painful."

The Lady Ospreys (8-8-2) fell behind the Patriots (5-7-1) early when Mollie Jones tallied the match's first goal off a rebound at the 44:38 mark of the match. UNF goalkeeper Rachael Howard prevented a Kiersten Nedervelt shot from reaching the net, but was unable to clear the ball giving Jones a clear view of the net, which she turned into a 1-0 Patriots' lead.

UNF managed to knot the game at a goal apiece in the 76^th minute of play when midfielder Courtney Forson headed a Nicole Handy pass just beyond the reach of Jacque Sutphin.

With neither team able to score in the final 14:47 of regulation, the team headed to the extra period.

Francis Marion's Liz Gallacher added the game-winning goal with just 1:13 remaining in overtime when she redirected a Katie Riley pass past a diving Howard.

UNF outshot Francis Marion 10-8. Both squads tallied four shots on goal.

Sutphin recorded three saves to earn the win.

Howard tallied two saves in 98:47 in goal to fall to 8-8-2 for the season.
