
Lady Ospreys swim past UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (Nov. 13,2004)-The University of North Florida swimming and diving team claimed its third victory of the season on Saturday, defeating UNC Wilmington 129-112. For the second time this season, freshman diver Amber Price swept the competition, defeating the field in the 1- and 3-meter events. Sophomore Kaila Johnston's showing in the 3-meter event earned her a second-place finish.
Senior Shawna Bothwell continued her strong season, winning both the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. Freshman Savannah Codd began the day taking second in the 1,000-yard freestyle, then followed that with a win in the 500-yard freestyle. Sophomore Julieann Watson also performed well, winning the 200-yard IM, then finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Lindsey Gatz added a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
UNF's relay team, consisting of senior Jessica Ware, Codd, Gatz, and sophomore Amanda Rutherford took first-place in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the 400-yard medley relay team, including Bothwell, Watson, Rutherford and junior Christie Britt placed second.
The Lady Ospreys will open their home schedule on Dec. 3 as they host Florida Southern at 3:00 p.m.
