UNF Men’s Tennis Defeats S.C. State, 4-3

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over South Carolina State on Saturday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex. The Ospreys will host Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
The Ospreys improve to 3-1 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 0-2.
Junior Graham Edgar picked up the deciding win for the Ospreys in the No. 4 singles with a tiebreaker in the first set 7-6 (5). In the second set, Edgar grabbed a 7-5 win to defeat SCSU's Peter Vinogradovs.
In the No. 1 freshman Moritz Buerchner defeated 2009 All-MEAC selection Radek Pivinka, 6-4, 7-5. UNF freshman Taylor Albrecht downed Alexandr Malko, 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 while junior Hleb Maslau defeated SCSU's No. 5 singles player David Grund, 6-0, 6-0.
In the No. 6 singles match UNF senior Kurt Gattiker played a tough match against Jan Langer before falling in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The Bulldogs picked up a point in the No. 2 singles with Gabriel Meana defeating freshman Leonardo Nahar, 6-0, 6-3. SCSU also won the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches.
In the No. 3 doubles match, the UNF duo of Nahar and Maslau defeated Langer and Malko, 8-4.
