Georgia State Downs UNF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's tennis team fell 4-0 to Georgia State in its 2010 season opener on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Peachtree City Center in Atlanta, Ga.

Due to the inclement weather that had been predicted to hit the Atlanta area, the match was moved from the Piedmont Park Tennis Center to the indoor Peachtree City Center.

In the No. 1 singles matchup, the Ospreys' Taylor Albretch captured the first set 6-4 before the Panthers' Victor Valente rallied to win the second set 6-2 and the third 6-3.

Leonardo Nahar, UNF's No. 2 player, also lost a tough three-set match to Jackson Moore, dropping set one 6-3, winning the second set 6-3 and then falling just short, 7-5, in the final set.

The Ospreys lost their No. 6 singles point for not having brought a sixth man to compete.

The Ospreys will return home to the UNF Tennis Complex for a pair of contests on Sunday, Jan. 31 to face Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
