Mark Romano Notches Brace, Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten In ASUN Play With Win Over West Florida, 3-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior midfielder Mark Romano recorded a brace to propel North Florida Men's Soccer to remain undefeated in ASUN Conference play with a 3-1 win against West Florida in its conference home opener at Corporate Traffic Logistics Field at Hodges Stadium on Saturday night.
North Florida improves to 5-3-1 overall and 3-0-0 in ASUN Conference play.
Romano found the back of the net in the 45th minute on a free kick to secure the 1-0 lead at the half. A free kick from senior midfielder Ugo Bertelli found the head of junior defender Rafa Rios who placed it toward senior defender Mikhail Keise for the goal in the 54th minute to make it 2-0. It marked the second goal of the season for Keise. It also marked the first assist of the season for Rios and second assist of the season for Bertelli.
West Florida cut the margin in half with a goal in the 62nd minute.
Romano notched his second career brace in the 83rd minute off assists from junior forward Kaiss Mansouri and senior defender Tarik Freire. Romano has now netted a team-high four goals this season, all of which have come in conference action. It marked the third assist of the season for Mansouri and the first of the season for Freire.
North Florida outshot its visitors 13-10. 16 Ospreys logged action in the match.
North Florida continues its four-match homestand when it hosts Trinity College of Jacksonville for Senior Night on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
