Men's Soccer Falls In Hard-Fought Match At No. 21 Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – University of North Florida Men's Soccer battled in a 5-1 defeat at No. 21 Clemson at Historic Riggs Field on Tuesday night.

North Florida is now 4-3-1 on the season and has won four of its last five matches.

Fifth year goalkeeper Luciano Natoli totaled five saves in 90 minutes in goal. Natoli has recorded back-to-back matches with five or more saves. It marked the seventh-career match with five or more saves for Natoli.

Clemson notched goals in the 13th and 21st minute to command a 2-0 lead.

Senior forward Geraldo Neto responded with a strike from right inside the 18-yard frame that found the back of the net in the 21st minute to make 2-1. Neto has now netted a team-high three goals this season. Neto tallied each of North Florida's two shots on goal in the match.

Clemson extended its lead with another goal 20 seconds later in the 22nd minute to reach its 3-1 halftime lead. Natoli notched three saves in the first half.

Junior forward Kaiss Mansouri, junior defender Rafa Rios, senior midfielder Tyler Prebenda, senior defender Ryuta Morioka and senior defender Germain Kapela threatened the Clemson backline with a shot each after the halftime break. Seven different Ospreys recorded a shot in the match. Clemson added goals in the 66th minute and 79th minute to reach the eventual final.

18 Ospreys recorded action while Kapela, Natoli and senior defender Tarik Feire logged the full time.

North Florida opens a four-match homestand when it hosts new ASUN Conference opponent West Florida at Corporate Traffic Logistics Field at Hodges Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 19. Kickoff is set for at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
