Volleyball Sweeps Western Carolina To Open Mountaineer Classic, 3-0

BOONE, N.C. - North Florida Volleyball earned its first sweep of the season in the Mountaineer Classic against Western Carolina, 3-0, at Holmes Convocation Center on Friday.
Third year outside hitter Dakota Spurrier posted a career-high 18 kills, in addition to .469 hitting, seven digs and two aces.
Fourth year outside hitter Kaili Doctor added 16 kills, in addition to .341 hitting and six digs.
Second year setter Sofia Dawson facilitated the offense with a match-high 43 assists, in addition to seven kills, four digs and three blocks.
Fourth year libero Emma Pohlmann matched her career-high in digs with 18 total.
UNF 3, UWC 0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-18)
SET ONE:
Spurrier tallied seven kills in the frame and Doctor added six kills. With the set tied, 21-21, Doctor and second year middle blocker Haleina Bowers notched a clutch combined block to help the frame reach its eventual final margin.
SET TWO:
Facing a 19-13 deficit, North Florida went on a massive 11-0 run to earn a 24-19 advantage. The surge featured three kills from Spurrier, two kills from second year middle blocker Katelyn Bowman and a solo block by fourth year middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay. On set point, Bowman put down a kill to give the Ospreys a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET THREE:
A 7-1 run in the early going fueled by three kills and one ace from Spurrier put North Florida ahead, 7-4. Spurrier posted seven kills total in the frame. On match point, Bowers and Dawson teamed up for a combined block, bringing the match to its final margin.
