Women's Soccer Earns 3-2 Win Over Saint Leo in Home Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Soccer earned its first win of the season over Saint Leo, 3-2, in its home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Corporate Traffic Logistics Field at Hodges Stadium.
With the win, UNF improved to 5-1-2 in home openers under Head Coach Eric Faulconer and have outscored opponents 15-4 in those games.
Saint Leo jumped out to an early lead with a goal during the second minute of action.
Sophomore midfielder Emery Scerbo would net her first collegiate goal in the 16th minute to tie up the contest.
The Ospreys would fire in eight shots including five shots on goal in the first half of action and limit the Lions to just one shot on goal.
Sophomore defender Skya Horth would fire in her first collegiate goal in the 51st minute to give North Florida its first lead of the game, however Saint Leo would tack on a goal of their own to even the score, 2-2, in the 53rd minute.
Retaking the lead for the Ospreys, sophomore defender Marisa Ocasek scored her first collegiate goal and game winner off a free kick in the 64th minute.
North Florida would go on to outscore its opponent in shots, 16-3, and shots on goal, 10-3.
Overall, 23 Ospreys saw action with senior defender Zoe Looker and junior midfielder Sarah Frazer logging the full 90 minutes.
North Florida travels to Miami, Fla., for a road contest with FIU at FIU Soccer Stadium on Sunday, August 23. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
