
Men's Tennis Falls In Back-And-Forth Battle Against South Alabama

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Men's Tennis dropped a back-and-forth match to South Alabama, 4-3, at UNF Tennis Complex on Friday.Â

The match was originally scheduled and played on Thursday, March 12 at 9:30 a.m., but action was postponed in the middle of singles action and moved to Friday due to inclement weather.Â

North Florida earned the doubles point with wins at the top two courts. Freshman Aron Major and graduate Andreas Scott teamed up for the first time and coasted to a 6-1 win at the top line to open action. Also playing as a pair for the first time, freshman Riccardo Ciulli and sophomore Youssef Labbene clinched the doubles point with a dominant 6-0 win at the two line.Â

South Alabama tied the margin at one with a win on court three. North Florida extended its lead to 3-1 when Scott turned in 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win at court one and Major added a three-set win, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, at court five. South Alabama secured the match with wins at the two, three, four and five singles positions.

North Florida will travel to Gainesville, Fla. for a matchup against Florida at the Ring Tennis Complex on Sunday, March 15, at 5 p.m. ET.
