Men's Tennis Cruises to 6-1 Win Over UTSA

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Men's Tennis cruised to a 6-1 win over UTSA at UNF Tennis Complex on Friday morning.

With the win, the Ospreys improved to 6-0 at home this season.

After dropping the first doubles court, the Ospreys responded with a 6-3 triumph on court three from sophomore Jean Deloziere and sophomore Joao Portugal. Graduate student Breno Marques and graduate student Andreas Scott would battle to a 7-5 win on court one to clinch the doubles point for North Florida.

Freshman Aron Major picked up a dominant win to begin singles play on court six, 6-1, 6-2, to extend UNF's lead to 2-0. Following the win, Major improved to 6-0 in singles matches.

Marques coasted to a 6-4, 6-1 on court three to add to the Osprey advantage. Sophomore Youssef Labbene would clinch the match for North Florida with a 6-4, 6-0 win on court two.

Freshman Kyle Piqueras would tack on a win in straight sets on court four 6-3, 6-2. After dropping his first set, Portugal won his second set and took the super tiebreaker to collect a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0[9] on court five to reach the eventual final.

North Florida will close out the weekend against Coastal Carolina on Sunday, March 1, at 1 p.m. at UNF Tennis Complex.
