
Men's Tennis's Youssef Labbene Brings Home ASUN Player of the Week Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second time this season, North Florida Men's Tennis's Sophomore Youssef Labbene has been named the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Â
"Youssef [Labbene] and Aron [Major] made a huge effort to clinch the doubles point for us against SC State. Youssef was a stud for us all weekend at the number two singles position," Head Coach John Collins remarked. "We are all very proud of him for being such a great competitor. Go Ospreys!"
Labbene tallied a pair of singles wins and a doubles win over the weekend to help North Florida take down UNC Wilmington and South Carolina State and improve to 5-0 at home this season.Â
He battled to a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(3) tiebreaker win in singles play on court two against UNC Wilmington on Friday, Feb. 20.Â
Alongside freshman Aron Major, the pair picked up a doubles win, 7-5, on court two to clinch the doubles point against South Carolina State on Sunday, Feb. 22.Â
With the match against South Carolina State tied at 3-3, Labbene earned a gritty 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 singles win on court two to clinch the match for the Ospreys.Â
North Florida will host a doubleheader against UTSA at 10 a.m. and Millennia Atlantic at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, at UNF Tennis Complex.
