
Women's Tennis Earns Third-Straight Sweep With Win Over Georgia State, 7-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Tennis remained unbeaten to open the season when it defeated Georgia State, 7-0, at UNF Tennis Complex on Sunday.Â

North Florida improves to 7-0 to start its season, which extends its best start since it started 8-0 to open the 2007 season.Â

North Florida raced out to early leads on the one and two lines in doubles action. Senior Laurie Barendse and graduate student Isabel Oliveira led 3-1 at one and graduate student Anslee Long and sophomore Gabby Goyins led 5-1 at two. Long and Goyins secured their court, 6-2, while freshman May Fadida and sophomore Aryana Bartlett clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at three.Â

The Ospreys secured first-set wins on all six singles courts. Long dominated on court six, 6-2, 6-1, while Fadida added another impressive win, 6-0, 6-3, on court four. Fadida has now posted five singles win on the season, all of which have come in straight sets.Â

Barendse clinched the match for the Ospreys with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court one, while was quickly followed with a win by Oliveira on court two, 6-3, 6-3. Goyins remained unbeaten with her seventh singles win of the season, 6-3, 6-3, on court five. Bartlett secured the sweep on court three, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6).Â
