JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Athletics and North Florida Baseball has announced the completion of Phase I of its comprehensive renovation plan of Harmon Stadium.Â
Â
The initial phase of renovations reflects the commitment to enhance the student-athlete experience and delivers key upgrades designed to modernize the facility's operational efficiency and versatility to host different events, elevate the program's competitive foundation and create a more dynamic game day environment for fans.Â
Â
"Today marks an exciting milestone for North Florida Baseball," Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Nick Morrow said. "This renovation isn't just about upgrading a facility. It's about investing in the student-athlete experience, elevating the future of our program, and creating an environment our campus, alumni and community can be proud of. I'm grateful for the support of our donors, sponsors, and university leadership who helped bring this vision to life. Together, we're building something that will impact generations of Ospreys to come."
Â
"North Florida Baseball has always been defined by grit, heart and tradition," Head Coach Joe Mercadante added. "With this renovation, we honor that history while building a foundation for the program's next chapter.  Everyone in our program is extremely thankful to everyone who had a hand in this amazing renovation."
Â
"The installation of our new AstroTurf Diamond Series baseball field will be a game-changer for our baseball program," Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Grounds Corey Levine added. "The quality of the surface, attention to detail and professionalism throughout the process exceeded our expectations. The field looks incredible and provides a consistent, high-performance playing surface that our student-athletes can be proud of."
Â
Phase I of the renovations includes a brand-new artificial turf field by AstroTurf, delivering a state-of-the-art playing surface, and a newly padded outfield wall courtesy of Bragan Better Baseball Foundation which features new characteristics including a 14' right field wall and unique corner in the left field, labeled "Cook Corner" in honor of the Cook Family. Other enhancements include netting and padded installations from Baker's Sports and Burbank, in addition to elevated fencing provided by Newsome Fencing to further modernize the facility's infrastructure.
Â
Fan-focused additions continue to highlight Phase I of the renovations while transforming the atmosphere at Harmon Stadium. The new "PIT" seating area now features 82 Dream Seats presented by Bono's of America, offering a premium on-field viewing experience. Families can enjoy the Family Fun Zone presented by W.W. GAY Mechanical Contracting, creating a welcoming space for Osprey fans of all ages.
Â
Enhancements extend beyond the playing surface with the addition of an alumni lounge and newly renovated bathrooms, renovated by Scorpio and presented by Andy and Roxanne Rodgers. The renovations will also recognize the tradition of Osprey Baseball, highlighted by The Alumni Giving Back Wall inside "The Nest".Â
Â
"Our recent baseball facility renovation was a success thanks to the outstanding work of our vendor partners," Levine added. "AstroTurf led the way with a top-tier artificial turf playing surface replacement that has completely revitalized the field—enhancing performance, playability, and overall aesthetics. This also includes the new W.W Gay family fun zone in left field. Newsom Fence followed with fencing replacement around the entire facility, delivering a clean, durable installation that immediately elevated the look and security of the ballpark. The installation of the Dream Seats in the Bonos Pit premium seating area has truly elevated the experience for our guests. The seats are comfortable, high-quality, and add a polished, upscale look to the space. From start to finish, the installation process was seamless, and the final result has enhanced both the atmosphere and overall fan experience in a big way. Burbank Sports Nets completed the transformation with full field wall padding and protective netting replacements, adding a polished, professional appearance while significantly improving player and guest safety. Together, these partners helped us create a first-class baseball environment our athletes and campus community can be proud of."
