
Women's Soccer Earns 904 Day Triumph Over Georgia Southern, 3-2

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three goals from three different Ospreys propelled North Florida Women's Soccer to a 3-2 win over Georgia Southern at Hodges Stadium in the initial match of a '904 Day' doubleheader on Thursday night.Â
With the win, North Florida improves to 2-3-2 and 1-0-1 at home.
Georgia Southern got on the scoreboard first in the 2nd minute. Redshirt junior forward Allie Fekany quickly tied the match with her first goal of the season in the 9th minute off an assist from redshirt junior forward/midfielder Isabella Pontieri.Â
Pontieri netted a strike from right outside the 18-yard box off an assist from freshman defender Skya Horth in the 14th minute to give the Ospreys a 2-1 advantage. For Horth, it marked her first collegiate assist.
North Florida added to its lead right out the halftime break with Looker's first collegiate goal on a header from a corner kick from Pontieri that proved to be a game winner in the 53rd minute and made it 3-1.Â
The two assists marked a single-match career-high for Pontieri.Â
Following the initial goal, redshirt freshman goalkeeper Audrey Johnson notched four saves for her third-straight match with four or more saves in between the frames.Â
Georgia Southern cut into its margin with a goal in the 76th minute.Â
North Florida hits the road to Charleston, S.C. to face College of Charleston at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point on Sunday, Sept. 7. First touch is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+. Â
