JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Men's Soccer blanked in-state No. 19 FAU, 5-0, in its home opener and second match of a 904 Day doubleheader on Thursday night.Â
With the win, North Florida improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 at home.Â
It marked the first ranked win under Head Coach Jamie Davies and the first ranked win since North Florida defeated No. 11 FGCU, 3-2, on Oct. 18, 2016.Â
Sophomore forward Geraldo Neto put North Florida on the scoreboard first with a diving header off the foot of senior defender Jaylen Yearwood in the 14th minute.Â
Junior defender Brian McManus Jr. netted his first career goal to extend the lead off a service from Yearwood in the 29th minute.
Sophomore forward Kaiss Mansouri made it 3-0 when he bent a ball past the Owls' goalkeeper from right inside the box for his first goal in an Osprey uniform in the 59th minute.Â
Redshirt senior forward Luc Granitur added the margin to make it 4-0 off a double assist from Yearwood and senior defender Alex Barnett in the 77th minute. Redshirt sophomore Mark Romano netted his first career goal for the exclamation point in the 86th minute.Â
The three assists from Yearwood marked a single-match career high. Overall, 21 Ospreys saw action in the match.Â
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Luciano Natoli played his fifth-straight match of full time in between the frames and recorded his sixth career clean sheet with a pair of saves.
North Florida remains home to host Georgia Southern on Monday, Sept. 8. First touch at Hodges Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET and will be aired on ESPN+.
