CHARLOTTE, N.C. - North Florida volleyball showed incredible effort in its four-set match, falling to Queens, 3-1, in its second match of ASUN Conference play on Sunday afternoon at Curry Arena.

UNF 1, QUC 3 (25-22, 25-12, 20-25, 20-25)

Set 1: North Florida jumped out to an early 5-4 lead behind kills in the early going from junior outside hitter Kaili Doctor and freshman opposite Kendall Newbold. Junior middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay and graduate outside hitter Kailey McKnight tallied back-to-back kills amid the set, cutting the Ospreys' deficit to 14-12. Senior middle blocker Kierstyn McFall notched back-to-back kills of her own in the latter stages of the set, though the Ospreys narrowly fell 25-22.
Set 2: The Ospreys were dominant, out-scoring Queens by 13 points en route to the victory. North Florida came out firing to an 8-2 lead largely behind three kills and an ace single-handedly from Newbold. North Florida kept its foot on the gas while commanding the early edge, using a 9-1 surge that featured two kills apiece from Doctor and Newbold to grab a 20-7 advantage. Newbold and freshman setter Sofia Dawson combined for four blocks as well as North Florida's final four points in the set to earn the dominant 25-12 victory.
Set 3: North Florida showed an immense amount of fight despite not coming away with the set victory. The Ospreys posted an impressive .286 hitting in the set, and narrowly faltered by just five points.
Set 4: Facing a 19-12 deficit, the Ospreys stormed back to come within just three points of Queens late in the set. North Florida's final push at a comeback featured kills from Newbold, McFall and senior opposite Mackenzie Piester, though it wasn't enough to overcome its deficit.
