Schroeder Places as Runner-Up at Boilermaker Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - North Florida women's golf had a stellar final round performance from redshirt junior Kaitlyn Schroeder, as she carded a career-low 5-under 67 to place as the runner-up at the Boilermaker Classic hosted by Purdue on Tuesday afternoon.

Schroeder recorded the best placement of her career with a second overall finish at 4-under 212 (73-72-67). She placed individually over four teams in the Power Four, including Ole Miss, Indiana, Purdue and Iowa.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native combined for 13 total birdies with the second-most throughout the tournament, including six of the 13 coming in the final round. She shared the best score in the final round at 5-under, as well as put together a top-five average on par-five holes scoring 3-under (4.75).

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Schroeder either scored birdie or par in 17 of the 18 holes during the final round of play at Purdue.
  • The redshirt junior continued to hold a top-five scoring average of 3-under (4.75) on par-five holes.
  • Brianna Castaldi finished with the ninth-most pars with 36 total to place 38th overall with three birdies in the final round.
  • Both Schroeder and Castaldi finished with 1-under (2.92) scoring average on par-three holes.
  • Helen Zhou, Mohea Mansbendel, Braydn Smith rounded out the Ospreys' final round with their season debuts at the Boilermaker Classic, including Mansbendel's first UNF appearance.
  • Ava Cottis continued a great collegiate debut as an unattached individual with a 2-over 74 final round to place 46th overall in the tournament.
