Men's Soccer Falls At UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – North Florida men's soccer fell in a road battle at UC Irvine 3-0, at Anteater Stadium on Sunday night. Â
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Luciano Natoli posted four saves, his fourth-straight match with three or more saves, in 90 minutes in the frame. He has played the full time in all four matches. Junior defender Paul Schacherer and sophomore defender Rafa Rios also played the full time. 20 Ospreys logged action in the match.

UC Irvine netted its initial goal in the 29th minute and added to its lead in the 59th minute and 68th minute.Â

North Florida threatened from the first touch with two shots in the initial 10 minutes and a 3-1 lead in shots at the halftime break, but was unable to find the back of the net.Â

The Ospreys' best opportunity to get on the board first came in the 14th minute when redshirt senior forward Luc Granitur fired a shot to the high left corner of the frame from right outside the 18-yard box that was saved by the Anteater goalkeeper.Â

Senior midfielder Jacob Harris notched the Ospreys' second shot on goal in the 86th minute with a strike from a couple yards in front of where Granitur sent one earlier. Schacherer and junior defender Ryuta Morioka added two more shots on goal near the six-yard box in the 89th minute and 90th minute.
North Florida returns home for its home opener against No. 22 FAU in its 904 Day doubleheader on Thursday, Sept. 4. Kickoff from Hodges Stadium is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
