JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Softball Head Coach
Jeff Conrad has officially agreed to a multi-year contract extension through the 2029 season, as announced by Director of Athletics
Nick Morrow on Wednesday afternoon.
Conrad delivered the Ospreys their first Atlantic Sun regular season and tournament titles in program history this past season with a 47-15 overall record and a 22-2 mark in conference play. UNF advanced to the NCAA Columbia Regional title game in the postseason guided by a pair of comeback wins over Virginia.
"UNF Softball had a historic season that captured national attention. Coach [Jeff] Conrad has been an exceptional leader, and I'm proud to have him at the helm of our program," Director of Athletics
Nick Morrow said. "His commitment to recruiting, competitive success and the holistic development of our student-athletes continues to raise the standard for UNF Softball. I'm confident the program will achieve even greater success under his continued leadership."
Conrad took over officially as the head coach on July 1, 2022, after joining the Ospreys' staff in August of 2015 and being promoted to associate head coach on Aug. 18, 2019. He has compiled a 111-57-1 overall record over three seasons at the helm as the fastest coach to reach 100 career wins at UNF, while also being named ASUN Coach of the Year in 2025.
The Ospreys set multiple program records this past season highlighted with a D-I program-best 47 overall wins and 22 conference wins. UNF also won all eight ASUN series played during the conference season, including six sweeps and a perfect 6-0 mark against in-state rivals Stetson and Jacksonville.
"My wife and I have called Jacksonville home for the past 10 years. We are very appreciative of President Moez Limayem, Athletic Director
Nick Morrow and all those who played a role in helping get this done so we can remain a part of the UNF Family," Conrad said. "I've always felt as if there is a mutual admiration and respect between the players that make this program so great and myself, and I'm grateful for the many successes we have had. Last season was historic and memorable in so many ways. To us within the program, it has only felt like the beginning."
On top of his ASUN Coach of the Year selection, he also helped seven different Osprey players receive ASUN postseason honors highlighted by
Allison Benning's superlative trifecta of ASUN Player, Pitcher and Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Benning reeled in national postseason honors that included multiple Second Team All-American awards for the first time in program history, as well as D1Softball's Mid-Major Player of the Year superlative award.
Conrad led North Florida to national prominence with the program's first-ever appearance in a national top 25 poll from Softball America, while also receiving votes NFCA and USA Softball to end the postseason. The Ospreys added onto the accomplishments with a No. 6 ranking in the final D1Softball Mid-Major poll.
Conrad has been a key part of North Florida's success over the past decade with a 291-213-1 record since becoming an assistant coach under former head coach Marcie Higgs. Almost every offensive record for UNF in D-I program history has now been under the oversight of Conrad since his debut season on the Ospreys' staff in 2016.
