JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Smilla Kolbe was stellar for North Florida track & field en route to breaking several program and national records during day two of the East Coast Relays at Hodges Stadium on Saturday.
Kolbe's stellar time paved the way for it to become No. 1 in UNF history, No. 1 in Visit Jax Track history, No. 1 in NCAA Division I East Region and nationally. Moreover, Kolbe's women's 800m was the third-fastest in NCAA Division I history and is the No. 7 time in the world.
It was a historic performance for Kolbe in the women's 800m, with her time of 1:59.02 smashing four different records.
Ella Chandler rounded out the Ospreys running in the women's 800m, setting a new personal record and breaking into the top 40 of the Division I East Region with a 2:04.89.
In the men's 800m, five Ospreys (
Robert Pedroza,
Aiden Arnold,
Ryan Douihech,
Shamar Henry,
Rashad Hemissi) finished with top 20 times out of 75 runners. Three of those five (Arnold, Henry, Hemissi) also tallied personal records.
Gabby Johnson led the way for the Ospreys in the women's 400m with a 54.66, good for a personal record and top-10 time. Following just behind was
Celine D'Anna who recorded a season-best 56.31 and finished inside the top 20, respectively. Rounding out the Ospreys' top runners was
Mariama Kamara, setting a personal record 59.53.
Rey Hernandez ran a season-best 48.30 in the men's 400m and
Matthew Groves followed with a 48.58 season-best of his own.
Mason Spearin added his best time of his career with a 49.59.
Drea Thompson and
Renske Drenten turned in solid outings in the women's high jump. Thompson and Drenten both recorded team-bests 1.60m 5-03.00 and finished with top-10 distances.
