Pedroza, Arnold Goes Top Two, D'Anna Breaks Record To Open East Coast Relays

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Celine D'Anna ran the first sub-one minute women's outdoor run in the 400mH, while Robert Pedroza and Aiden Arnold finished with the two best times in the men's 1500m, highlighting North Florida's performances during day one of the East Coast Relays at Hodges Stadium on Friday afternoon.

D'Anna broke her own program record with a time of 59.29 that now ranks 48th in the D-I NCAA East Region. Paul Lespasio joins Pedroza as first-place finishers in their respective events of the 1500m and 5000m.

The Ospreys had a pair of strong performances from its men's high jumpers at the East Coast Relays. Tyshone Bolden finished with a team-best 2.00m 6-06.75 and Jacob Hippo finished inside the top-10 as well, respectively.

Celine D'Anna set a new personal record in the 400mH. D'Anna ran a 59.29, breaking her previous record of 1:00.36, and is now among the top 50 in the DI East College Outdoor Rankings. Navia Casa also set a personal record in the 400mH with a 1:06.91 and Serenity Miller finished just behind at 1:06.97. In the men's 400mH Rey Fernandez tallied a top-10 finish for the Ospreys.

Robert Pedroza and Aiden Arnold were sensational for UNF in the men's 1500m, claiming the top-two times out of 64 runners. Arnold smashed his previous personal best by .33 with a 3:43.16 that was good for second place. Pedroza earned his  top-finish with a 3:42.65. Three other Ospreys (Christian Ruocco, Ryan Douihech, Andrew Mahorner) paced inside the top-20 of the men's 1500m.

Jada Williams led the way for the Ospreys in the women's 3000m SC with a team-best 11:01.46. Annika Buser and Melissa Bentayeb each followed with personal-best times. Gavin O'Brien smashed his previous season-best in the men's 3000m SC, running a 9:03.01.

In the women's 5000m, Madeline Castillo and Brooke Yates both finished with top-20 times and recorded personal bests. On the men's side, Lespasio was the leader of the race with Colton Lawson and Kameron Wallizada rounding out the top five.

North Florida track & field honors 13 student-athletes during its senior day ceremony on the final day of the East Coast Relays on Saturday, May 3, at Visit Jax Track. The recognition will start during the intermission period of the meet at noon.
