Moore's Walkoff Propels Baseball In Extras, Earns Series Sweep Over Queens

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Connor Moore pieced a walk-off double that propelled North Florida to a 9-8 extra-inning game three win and a series sweep over Queens on Saturday at Harmon Stadium.

It marked the fourth ASUN series win of the conference slate for North Florida.

Trailing 8-4 entering the bottom of the ninth, redshirt sophomore Nick Monile recorded a lead off base hit and sophomore Mitchell Collins induced a walk to put runners on first and second base with no outs for North Florida. In the next at-bat, freshman Seth Alford tallied his fifth RBI of the game with a three-run shot to tie the score at 8-8 and send the home finale into extras.

Alford finished 5-of-9 with 6 RBIs at the plate between the pair of Saturday games.

Redshirt freshman Carter White entered to pinch hit in the bottom of the 10th inning and immediately drew a walk before he stole second to place the winning run in scoring position. Faced with two outs, Moore secured the win with the extra-base hit.

Earlier in the afternoon, North Florida resumed game two action that was postponed due to inclement weather in the top of the sixth inning tied 4-4 with Queens. North Florida struck in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of runs to secure a 6-4 lead.

North Florida added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sac fly from senior Cade Bush to reach the eventual final margin.

The Ospreys honored 11 seniors – nine players, two staff members – prior to the start of game two.
