JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball took the series against Jacksonville with a run-rule victory, 10-1, to make
Jeff Conrad the fastest coach in D-I program history to win 100 games on Friday evening at UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys exploded on the scene in the second game of the River City Rumble series after scoring seven runs in the first inning. UNF added three runs over the next two frames to put away the rivalry game in five innings.
A pair of RBI knocks from
Kirsten Caravaca and
Kelsey Vogel started the run barrage in the first, including a bases-clearing triple of Vogel, to make it a 4-0 ballgame. Vogel scored on a wild pitch along with two more runs scoring off a throwing error from the Dolphins.
Hadlee Reichert and
Chloe Culp each added RBIs in the second and third frames, while Vogel forced a bases-loaded walk for her fourth RBI of the night and the 10th run scored in the game.
UNF can clinch the ASUN Graphite Division with a win against Jacksonville on Saturday, followed with an FGCU road loss against Stetson. The Ospreys currently hold a six-game lead with seven conference matchups remaining with their sights set on a triple-bye in the ASUN Championship tournament.
