Softball Takes Series Win Against Jacksonville in Extras, 6-5

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Down by three runs in the seventh inning, North Florida softball scored the necessary runs to forced extra innings and secure a 6-5 victory in nine over Jacksonville in the River City Rumble on Friday evening.

The Ospreys earned the series win with their pair of victories against JU over the past two nights. UNF also added on their eight win to start off ASUN play with its extra-innings thriller in game two of the rivalry series.

In the seventh with the bases loaded, Kelsey Vogel brought in a run with another scoring off an error to make it a one-run game. An RBI hit from Kirsten Caravaca to score Vogel tied the game to force extra softball at JU.

Allison Benning took over in the circle in the seventh and did not allow any runs through three frames of work. Hadlee Reichert was the hero with an RBI blooper to center field to score Amanda Aardema from third base in the ninth inning.
