JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Riding a six-game win streak, North Florida travels to Gainesville for their biggest test of the 2025 season, a Wednesday midweek against the Florida Gators. It is the first of two midweek trips UNF will take to UF, the next being on April 1. The Ospreys are fresh off a sweep of Brown, where North Florida scored 34 total runs over the four games played last weekend. 

Last Time Out
In the weekend finale against Brown, North Florida scored early and often, plating eight runs in the first four innings. Five different Ospreys recorded multi-hit games and the bullpen tossed five scoreless in route to a 10-2 win. It is the first series win and sweep for UNF in 2025 and ties the longest win streak in the Joe Mercadante era (six). 

Scouting Florida
The Gators are off to a perfect 7-0 start, sweeping Air Force and Dayton, while winning their lone midweek game against Jacksonville. Their most recent sweep against Dayton featured three run-rule wins and 36 runs scored. Florida has the fifth-lowest ERA among all Division One programs and is hitting .357 as a team, the ninth highest mark in the NCAA. Brody Donay is hitting an unbelievable .524 with four home runs and seven walks. Liam Peterson continues to be the ace of the staff. The Palm Harbor, Fla. native has not allowed a run in ten innings and has punched out 16. 

ASUN Player of the Week 
Catcher Jabin Bates snagged his first career ASUN Player of the Week award for his strong efforts against FAMU and Brown. He is the first Ospreys to bring in the award since 2023 and is the 33rd Osprey to win it in program history. Bates batted (9-19) .474 and had four multi-hit games. He drove in nine and cracked his first home run of 2025.

Terrific Treichel
Freshman pitcher Bryson Treichel has turned heads in his first two appearances as an Osprey. Against Notre Dame, Treichel tossed three scoreless innings and struck out five. In his first career start against Brown, Treichel was four outs shy of a no-hitter and completed six shutout with five strikeouts. 

Series History
North Florida has won eight of 28 games played against the Gators since their first matchup back in 2006. UNF has not won a game against Florida since 2019 and have lost eight straight. Last season, the Ospreys lost both of their midweek games to Florida, staying competitive in the second game in Gainesville.
