
Men's Basketball Falls At No. 11/11 Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. – North Florida Men's Basketball fell at No. 11/11 Gonzaga, 109-58, at McCarthey Athletic Center on Sunday night.Â

Gonzaga marked the third top-25 opponent that North Florida has faced in its non-conference schedule this season.Â
Â
Freshman guard/forward Trey Cady turned in his third-straight game with 10 or more points with a team-high 14 points on 5-10 from the field and 2-3 from three, in addition to three rebounds in 24 minutes. Senior guard Kamrin Oriol added 11 points in 33 minutes to extend his total to 10 or more points in eight of the nine games this season.Â

Sophomore guard Kent Jackson added 11 points and a career-high six rebounds in 28 minutes to round out three Ospreys in double figures.

Graduate student guard Devin Hines scored the initial four points and Jackson added an off-balanced jumper for North Florida's six points at the initial first-half media timeout. Hines finished with nine points in 23 minutes.

Cady scored on back-to-back possessions to cut the margin to 16-11 at the 14:09-minute mark of the first half. North Florida trailed 34-22 at the under-eight media timeout. Gonzaga went on a 20-0 run to push its lead to 53-28 at the half.Â

Oriol led all Ospreys with nine points on 3-6 from three in the first half.Â

Cady posted nine points of his team-high total on 3-5 from the field, 1-1 from three and 2-2 from the free-throw line in the second half. Gonzaga outscored North Florida 56-30 in the second half to reach the eventual final.Â
North Florida assisted on 12 of its 20 field goals made in the game. Overall, all 11 Ospreys saw action.

North Florida travels to Dayton, Ohio to battle Dayton on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena.
