
Men's Basketball Drops Battle At Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio – North Florida Men's Basketball fell at Dayton, 84-61, at UD Arena on Saturday.Â
Senior guard Kamrin Oriol posted a team-high 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in 38 minutes. Oriol has scored 10 or more points in nine of 10 games this season. Freshman guard/forward BJ Plummer turned in 11 points, 10 of which came in the second half, with three rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes.Â
Freshman guard/forward Trey Cady, a Marion, Ohio native, turned in nine points and three rebounds in 15 minutes. Graduate student forward Nestor Dyachok added six points on 3-3 from the field and four rebounds in 20 minutes.
North Florida tied Dayton 29-29 in bench points and outscored its hosts 15-11 in second-chance points. It marked the second of four-straight road games for North Florida, which ties the longest road stretch of the season.Â
The Ospreys scored on their opening possession on a drive and finish by Oriol. Dayton held a 5-3 lead at the initial first-half media timeout at the 15:57-minute mark. Plummer found Cady for a transition three to take a 6-5 lead at the 14:17-minute mark of the first half. Dayton responded with a 19-0 run to command a 24-6 lead.
Jackson knocked down back-to-back threes to trim the margin to 28-14 at the under-eight media timeout in the first half. Dayton led 46-23 at the half.
North Florida closed out the game on a 14-3 run over the final 4:06 minutes. The Ospreys tied their hosts 38-38 in the second half.Â
North Florida returns to action when it travels to Charleston, S.C., to battle Charleston Southern at Buccaneer Fieldhouse at 11 a.m. ET.
