JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Wednesday that North Florida freshman opposite hitter Kendall Newbold earned 2025 ASUN All-Freshman Team honors – with six other Ospreys tabbed as Academic All-ASUN selections.
With victories in five of its final six matches, North Florida secured a spot in the 2025 ASUN Championship tournament, where it will face Florida Gulf Coast in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 20 at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla.
A unanimous selection, Newbold is North Florida's first ASUN All-Freshman honoree since senior middle blocker Kierstyn McFall and Savannah Cook were tabbed in 2022.
Newbold led North Florida in total attacks, kills, points per set and kills per set in 2025.
The Atlanta native, Newbold, set a career-high with .500 hitting against Harvard on Sept. 6 and notched a career-high nine digs at Queens on Sept. 28. The freshman opposite also surpassed career-highs with 45 total attacks and 18 kills at Stetson on Oct. 26.
Newbold tallied 10 kills or more in 16 matches this season, and was named ASUN Freshman of the Week on Sept. 29 following back-to-back matches with double-digit kills at West Georgia on Sept. 26 and at Queens on Sept. 28.
Newbold earned all-tournament recognition in two of North Florida's in-season tournaments in 2025.
Graduate outside hitter Kailey McKnight, graduate outside hitter Janelly Ceopa, senior middle blocker Kierstyn McFall, senior libero Maymie Guthrie, senior opposite hitter Mackenzie Piester and junior libero Emma Pohlmann earned Academic All-ASUN nods, rounding out North Florida's postseason honors.
