
Women's Soccer Falls To FGCU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Soccer fell to Florida Gulf Coast, 2-0, at Hodges Stadium on Thursday night.
North Florida moves to 5-8-2 and 3-3 in ASUN. Florida Gulf Coast secured its early lead off two free kicks opportunities in the 32nd and 37th minute.
For the Ospreys, sophomore forward Allison Souers threatened early with a shot on goal in the fifth minute of action. One of the best scoring opportunities for North Florida in the inital half came off a corner kick from senior midfielder Chloe Lynch that was tapped wide of the frame by sophomore midfielder Sarah Frazer in the 24th minute.
North Florida ended the initial half with six shots, which included three shots on goal. The Ospreys continued to stay aggressive in the final third to start the second half registering three shots in the 50th minute.
Souers would end action with three shots and a shot on goal, while redshirt junior forward Isabella Pontieri added three shots and two shots on goal.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chrissa Avery grabbed four saves, all of which were notched in the second half. Overall, 22 Ospreys logged action with sophomore defender Julia Cosgrove and junior midfielder Zoe Looker each playing the full 90 minutes.
North Florida will honor five student-athletes for Senior Day when it hosts Stetson at Hodges Stadium in its ASUN Home Finale on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m. Action will be aired on ESPN+.
