
Volleyball Drops Five-Set Match With Central Arkansas

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Volleyball dropped a five-set match, 3-2, against Central Arkansas on Saturday at UNF Arena.
UNF 2, UCA 3 (25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 16-18)
Set 1: North Florida had momentum early with a 7-3 lead largely behind a trio of kills from graduate outside hitter Kailey McKnight, senior opposite Mackenzie Piester and junior middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay. Central Arkansas came back to earn a 13-10 advantage midway through the set, though a 5-1 run from the Ospreys highlighted by an ace from junior libero Emma Pohlmann put North Florida back ahead by three points. A pair of kills from freshman middle blocker Katelyn Bowman helped seal the victory for the Ospreys.
Set 2: Facing a 10-3 deficit early on, North Florida showed relentless shrink UCA's edge to just 22-18. Freshman outside hitter Leah McDonald posted three-straight kills amid the comeback for the Ospreys, however, a kill for Central Arkansas and an attack error by UNF over the final two points gave the Sugar Bears the win.
Set 3: Junior outside hitter Kaili Doctor was incredible for North Florida throughout, tallying six kills total in the third set alone. The middle stages of the set was dominated by both Doctor and the Ospreys, featuring an 8-0 run for North Florida with four kills coming from Doctor alone. Holding an 18-10 lead, UNF held off a late Central Arkansas to earn the victory.
Set 4: Trailing 3-0 early, two kills apiece from McKnight and Francis Garay gave North Florida a 6-5 lead. Neither side led by more than two points until Central Arkansas commanded a 16-13 edge. The Ospreys mustered a comeback fueled by two kills from Doctor and one from Piester to knot the score at 22, though UCA took the final three points to close out the set.
Set 5: Kills from Piester and McFall as well as an ace by McDonald allowed North Florida to take a 6-5 advantage. Neither side led by more than one point until the match came to its final margin.
