Volleyball Drops Five-Set Road Match At Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - North Florida volleyball battled hard on the road, falling in a competitive five-set match, 3-2, at Lipscomb on Friday evening.
UNF 2, LIP 3 (26-24, 27-25, 16-25, 22-25, 12-15)
Set 1: North Florida showed relentless fight to make a sensational comeback after falling behind 8-0. Graduate outside hitter Kailey McKnight fueled the early comeback with three-straight aces and junior middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay added a kill. The Ospreys used a 5-0 run amid the set to earn a 12-11 lead behind a pair of block assists from senior middle blocker Kierstyn McFall. North Florida scored four-straight points to win the set with McKnight scoring the final point with a kill.
Set 2: Facing another lofty deficit early on (7-0), the Ospreys mustered yet another remarkable comeback to knot the score at 18 apiece, doing so behind a 7-0 run capped off by an ace from junior libero Emma Pohlman. From there, McFall dominated down the stretch with two kills and freshman opposite Kendall Newbold scored the final point with a kill.
Set 3: Lipscomb posted 16 kills on .400 hitting in the set to help earn the victory. McFall tallied three kills in the set for North Florida.
Set 4: Freshman outside hitter Leah McDonald kept the Ospreys afloat in the middle stages of the set with a pair of timely kills. Her second brought North Florida within one point of Lipscomb, narrowly trailing 13-12. Shortly after, freshman setter Sofia Dawson registered a block solo to put the Ospreys ahead 14-13. Courtney Jones notched a kill for Lipscomb on the final point to secure the set win.
Set 5: Junior outside hitter Kaili Doctor posted a pair of clutch kills amid the set, as Lipscomb saw its lead shrink to 7-6. McDonald served an ace, and McKnight and Francis Garay teamed up for a block assist to tie the score at 12. However, Lipscomb earned the final three points, bringing the match to its final margin.
