Volleyball Dominates In Sweep Over Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. - North Florida volleyball put its talent on display in dominant fashion, earning its first road victory in Atlantic Sun Conference play, 3-0, over Austin Peay on Saturday evening.
UNF 3, AP 0 (25-19, 25-18, 27-25)
Set 1: Graduate outside hitter Kailey McKnight and freshman opposite Kendall Newbold tallied two kills apiece in the early stages, allowing North Florida to command a 4-3 advantage. Two kills in three points from junior middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay maintained the Ospreys' lead, 11-10. Junior outside hitter Kaili Doctor tallied back-to-back kills down the stretch, which extended North Florida's edge to 21-15. Francis Garay and Newbold sealed the set victory for the Ospreys with a pair of kills in the final two points.
Set 2:  North Florida wasted no time jumping out to an early lead for the second-straight set. Kills from Francis Garay and McKnight helped the Ospreys take a 7-3 advantage. A 5-1 run for North Florida amid the set, fueled by two kills from Francis Garay and one from Doctor, helped put the Ospreys ahead 14-9. Francis Garay continued to impress throughout the set, recording three kills in four points to push North Florida's edge to 18-12. The Ospreys watched a service error go out-of-bounds on the final point of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set 3: Looking for the sweep, the Ospreys kept their foot on the gas en route to a 7-2 advantage in the early stages. Newbold showed off her elite vertical through the first four points to register two kills. Though, Austin Peay was able to come back to force a win-by-two scenario for the Ospreys. Nevertheless McKnight was stellar in the final stages, tallying clutch kill down the stretch just before UNF earned the sweep.
