Banzhaf Takes First-Career ASUN Freshman of the Week Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In his second-career meet, Parker Banzhaf has been awarded ASUN Freshman of the Week for the first time in his career, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
The Ospreys have now brought in back-to-back ASUN Freshman of the Week awards to start the 2025 cross country season. It's the second honor of the season and the third Osprey to bring home ASUN Freshman of the Week since 2021.
The Vero Beach, Fla., native made his second appearance with the Osprey squad in cross country at the FSU XC Open on Friday, Sept. 26. He placed 20th overall with a fantastic time of 25:23.2 in the 8k race to place over competitors from Florida State, LSU and Miami.
"Parker [Banzhaf] had a nice race at FSU," Director of Cross Country Jeff Pigg stated. "His prep was good and we thought he would run in our top five. He showed patience early and closed well, which is sometimes difficult for a freshman. I'm proud of him."
Banzhaf and the Ospreys close out their regular season with their annual postseason tune-up appearance at the Crimson Classic hosted by Alabama on Friday, Oct. 17, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
