El Khattabi, Lespasio & Hernandez Fill Out Top Three Runners

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's cross country filled out the top three overall on their way to taking home first as a team hosting the Duval 5K XC Challenge at the UNF Hayt Golf Complex on Friday evening.

Ilias El Khattabi took home the top individual finish for the first time in his career to kick off a strong sophomore campaign. Paul Lespasio and Sebastian Hernandez followed right behind El Khattabi to finish second and third for the Ospreys.

UNF finished with 11 of its runners among the top 26 runners, as Ryan Douihech, Colton Lawson and Christian Ruocco were the scoring placements in the top 16 overall. Aiden Arnold was the top unattached runner for the Ospreys in fourth, while freshmen Alejandro Romagosa and Shamar Henry made their collegiate debuts unattached as well in the top 18.

FINISH LINE

Ilias El Khattabi and Paul Lespasio finished within a second of each other for the 1-2 finish.
Sebastian Hernandez narrowly beat out a runner to cross the line for third overall.
Aiden Arnold rounded out the top four as an unattached competitor.
Alejandro Romagosa, Shamar Henry and William Montanye made their collegiate debuts as unattached runners.
Ryan Douihech went sub-16 minutes for 13th overall, while the next seven finishers were all Ospreys from 15th through 21st.
A total of 11 Ospreys placed among the top 26 runners in the race, to go along with four additional unattached Ospreys in the top 28 as well.
All 18 Ospreys that competed, team and unattached runners, ran their first collegiate 5k races.
