JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Athletics announces a restructure of its external operations department along with several promotions and hires. Brock Borgeson returns to North Florida to lead the strategic communications, creative and broadcast units and Josh Baker is promoted to oversee corporate partnerships, marketing and other revenue generating operations. Additionally, Kyle Johannes has been promoted from his role as broadcast manager and will oversee broadcast operations and technology systems.Â
"The reorganization of our external operations department positions us to further advance our campus and community impact," Director of Athletics Nick Morrow said. "Brock and Josh are two of the most passionate and hard-working individuals I know and I'm thrilled to place them in leadership positions within our athletic department."
Borgeson returns to North Florida and will take on the role of Associate AD for Communications and will be responsible for running the communications efforts while overseeing creative and broadcast operations. Borgeson spent 2018-23 at UNF before taking over as director of communications at the University of Miami this past fall. During his previous five-year stint at North Florida, Borgeson helped implement advancements in the creative department, while expanding the reach of live streaming through SWOOPLife Live and ESPN+ in addition to day-to-day statistical, website and communication efforts.
Josh Baker moves into the role of Associate AD for Revenue Generation and Community Engagement. A 2010 UNF graduate, Baker served as the assistant director of athletic marketing for the Ospreys through 2016. After stints at Western Carolina, UNC Asheville and Kennesaw State, Baker returned to Jacksonville in January of 2020 in a development role before moving into his current title. Baker will be primarily responsible for building corporate partnerships and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the marketing office.Â
Kyle Johannes will move from his role as broadcast manager and take on the role as Assistant AD of Broadcast Operations and Technology. A 2018 graduate of UNF and one of the original student-crew members involved with ESPN+, Johannes spent time with East Tennessee State University before returning to UNF in 2021. Over the past three years, Johannes has expanded UNF's broadcast operations in volume, quality and type with the department producing the first-ever ESPN+ live streams of beach volleyball, soccer and swimming in his time.Â
"Kyle has proven to be a great asset to our department and this latest promotion gives him great responsibility and autonomy," Morrow said. "Last year, under Kyle's guidance, we broadcasted more events on ESPN+ than any other year in UNF's history. I trust our new structure will enhance our reach and ability to provide exposure for our teams and student-athletes."
