ATLANTA, Ga. - North Florida women's basketball continues its academic excellence by being honored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) with 2023-24 WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll honors, as announced by the national organization on Thursday afternoon.
The Osprey squad was selected to be the 15th-ranked team among NCAA Division I institutions on the WBCA honor roll with a cumulative team GPA of 3.674. Earlier this summer, four players from this past season were selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team, as well as 11 players were given ASUN Honor Roll recognition as well.
"It's a tremendous accomplishment to earn the WBCA's Academic Honor Roll distinction. Our team is committed to championship habits in everything we do and academics are our top priority," said head coach Erika Lambert. "I'm coaching future leaders, teachers, doctors, physical therapists, coaches, business professionals. I'm very proud of our players' commitment to excellence in the classroom at UNF!"
This is the second consecutive season that UNF has garnered a position on the WBCA Academic Team Honor Roll. In 2023, the Ospreys were placed as the fourth-best D-I team in the country academically.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
