FLORENCE, Ala. - North Florida baseball (21-26-1, 11-14-1 ASUN) played through 13 innings on the road with North Alabama (17-32-1, 9-17-1 ASUN), but ended the extra-inning thriller in a 4-4 tie due to travel curfew on Sunday afternoon.
The Ospreys jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after a two-run homer from
Cherokee Nichols, his sixth of the season. Shortly after,
Cade Bush added another run with an RBI single to send
Jakob Runnels home for a three-run lead.
UNF added in the fourth inning as well with another RBI single from
Tyler Gerteisen to extend the lead to 4-0. The following frame, Runnels recorded his 100th career hit with a leadoff single through the left side.
Bryce Fisher had an excellent start with six shutout innings and eight strikeouts before allowing a run in the seventh.
Brett Dennis entered in relief during to limit the damage to just two runs to make it a 4-2 ballgame.
Entering the ninth inning up by two runs, UNA answered with multiple RBI hits to tie the game at four a piece, but
Zane Starling came in to send it the extras.
Lance Bolton held the Lions to scoreless through the last three innings of the game, but it finished out as a tied result due to the travel curfew at the end of the 13th inning.
