TAMPA, Fla. - North Florida baseball (21-27-1) fought hard in its road finale, but struggled to produce on offense to drop its matchup to South Florida (25-27), 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Ospreys were down early in the game, as USF struck first with a three-run homer in the second inning to grab the lead from the jump. UNF cut into that deficit the following inning with an RBI single from
Finn Howell to score
Cade Reich.
USF responded at the bottom half of the third scoring off a wild pitch, along with a solo shot to expand their lead to four runs. The Bulls added another run in the fourth, but
Jabin Bates gave the Ospreys a response with a solo bomb in the fifth.
Kaden Humphrey had a shutdown inning in the ninth striking out the side, but it was too much to overcome in its final non-conference and midweek game of the regular season.
