Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Third at Lewis Chitengwa Memorial

Riley Places Ninth, Gabrelcik & Lee Make Top 15 Overall

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - North Florida men's golf completed its regular season finale with a share of third overall as a team in its annual appearance at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial hosted by Virginia on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ospreys had great rounds to cap off its final tournament before heading to the ASUN Championship tournament later this month with no Osprey going over 2-over 73. Andrew Riley combined for the top score at 3-under 210 to place ninth, while Nick Gabrelcik and Davis Lee reach had solid showings with even-par 213 for spots among the top 15 finishers.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Riley played consistently to start his final round, but notched three birdies, including back-to-back, on the back nine to go 3-under 210 for ninth overall in Charlottesville.
  • The junior transfer led the squad in pars with 36 total over the span of three rounds.
  • Gabrelcik rode the wave of his 4-under front nine with four birdies to card 1-under 70 and complete his week with a share of 15th.
  • Lee scored five birdies on the final day, which included three of the four par-five holes, to join Gabrelcik tied for 15th at even-par 213.
  • The senior had the team lead in birdies with 14 total for a top-five mark, while finishing with a top-eight scoring average on par-five holes at 7-under.
  • All three golfers had even-par average for par-four holes to be among the top 10 in that category.
  • Robbie Higgins joined Gabrelcik with an eagle in the tournament on the second hole to sneak inside the top 40 at 6-over 219.
  • Jason Duff had his best round of the week at even-par 71 with four birdies to finish just outside the top 50 overall.
  • The Ospreys finished the tournament second in par-four average (8-over) and top three in par-five average (20-under).
  • UNF also had the third-most pars with 162 total and was one of the nine teams to notch at least two eagles.
  • They also joined Tennessee as the only teams to have three players among the top 15 individuals.
