Riley Leads Ospreys With Top-Five Score

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - North Florida men's golf had stellar performances from its upperclassman through a pair of rounds to start off its regular season finale at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial hosted by Virginia on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys finished its second round with three players among the top 20 individuals with each of them recording a round under par. Andrew Riley was the top scorer highlighted with a 4-under 67 second round to be tied for fifth overall on the player's leaderboard.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Riley only scored worse than par on three holes the entire day to be 5-under 137 and tied for fifth overall.
  • The junior transfer showed his talents with the strong second round of six birdies including a pair of back-to-backs and two of three on the third instance.
  • He also sits top three for par-three average (1-under), top 10 for par-four average (even-par) and fifth for total pars (25), which leads the team.
  • Davis Lee scored three straight birdies in the first round and four total birdies in the second round to set himself inside the top 16 overall.
  • His stellar performance to end the first round highlighted by five birdies over 13 holes helped him score even-par 142 through two rounds.
  • The senior holds top-five mark for par-four average (1-under), while also leading the team in birdies with nine total for a top-10 mark among the field.
  • Nick Gabrelcik had a clean first round of 3-under 68 and three birdies in the second to be 1-over 143 combined for a share of 18th overall.
  • The senior was the lone Ospreys to record an eagle on his second to last hole of the first round on the par-five second hole.
  • Robbie Higgins carded a trio of birdies for each round to help him stay within the top 50 at 5-over 147 combined.
  • Jason Duff wrapped up the extended day of play at 8-over 150 combined.
  • The Ospreys are tied for second in par-five scoring average (14-under) and a top-four mark for par-five average (9-over).
  • UNF also has the fifth-most pars among the field at 108 total, along with 32 total birdies as well.
