ORLANDO, Fla. - North Florida baseball (17-17) could not overcome a rough fifth inning and fell to UCF (22-12), 10-3, on Wednesday evening.
The Ospreys received an excellent start from
Will Ross, who tossed three innings of scoreless ball and struck out two. UNF ran into trouble in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Jordan Wimpelberg and
Clayton Boroski allowed five runs in the two innings, which proved to be too much.
UNF chipped away at the deficit in the sixth, as
Jakob Runnels scored on an error and
Cherokee Nichols drove home a run on a ground ball.
Jabin Bates made it a two-run game on an RBI single in the seventh. The Knights pulled away with five additional runs in the later innings to secure the midweek victory.
