Baseball Drops First Game Against Lipscomb

Bates Picks Up Seventh Multi-Hit Game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida (16-15, 6-7 ASUN) dropped their opening game to Lipscomb (10-22, 6-7 ASUN) on Friday night at Harmon Stadium.

The Ospreys fell behind early 4-0 after a big third inning from Lipscomb. UNF kept things close with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Gabriel Esquivel reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

UNF rallied with two outs, as Jabin Bates and Cherokee Nichols laced back-to-back singles. Drew Leinenbach was hit by the pitch and loaded the bases, which followed with Jakob Runnels cracking a single to score Bates and Nichols.

The 4-3 score did not last long, as the Bison hit three home runs in the fourth inning and went up by five. UNF struggled to keep the ball in the yard on a windy day, as Lipscomb ended the evening with five home runs and totaled 16 runs through seven innings.
