3/7/2024 4:30:00 PM

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball welcomes Seton Hall to Harmon Stadium for their final non-conference weekend series of the ‘24 season from Mar. 8-10.

UNF is coming off back-to-back losses this week and are hoping to get back on track against the Pirates. The Ospreys allowed 27 runs in the two midweek games and fell to 7-5 this season.

Last Time Out

North Florida dropped a midweek game against North Carolina A&T. The Ospreys kept the game close, but a controversial call allowed the inning to continue and the Aggies scored four runs. The Ospreys trailed 10-1 at one point, but were able to cut the lead in half. The Ospreys would fall to NC A&T, losing 10-5. The Ospreys are now 1-4 in midweek games this season.

Scouting Seton Hall

Seton Hall enters this weekend with a record of 7-4 and have played all but one game away from their home. The Pirates are off to a strong start this season. They defeated Michigan State in an opening weekend tournament and won a series against Georgia State. Last weekend, they split a four game set against FIU and are now hitting .287 as a team. The pitching, while not as good as the offense, has still been strong, as they have a team ERA of 4.73.

UNF will broadcast Friday’s and Saturday’s game on ESPN+. Updates for both games will be made through live stats, as well as on X/Twitter at @OspreyBSB and Instagram at @OspreysBSB.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (7-5) fell in back-to-back midweek games this week, as they were defeated by North Carolina A&T (10-2), 10-5, on Wednesday evening at Harmon Stadium.

North Carolina A&T opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first. UNF responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to knot the score at one. Starter Brett Dennis pitched a solid second inning but ran into trouble in the third. The Aggies would score three runs to pull away from the Ospreys.

NC A&T pulled away in the fifth scoring four runs off of Avery Love. A controversial strike-three call extended the inning and allowed the Aggies to plate the runs. The big hit of the inning was Isaiah Monge's two-run triple off the center field wall. Jordan Wimpelberg would come on in relief and toss a scoreless sixth and seventh inning.

Shemar Dalton would continue NC A&T's impressive offensive night with an RBI triple down the right field line in the eighth. He would score later in the inning on a sacrifice fly. The Ospreys would get those two runs back in the bottom of the inning. Tripp McKinlay would double home a run and would score on an RBI single from Jakob Runnels

Kaden Humphrey would put together a scoreless ninth inning to keep the score the same. The Ospreys would continue to battle in the ninth, scoring two on a Tripp McKinlay triple. The game would end on a Cade Bush strikeout with the bases loaded.
