Men's Golf Starts First Round at General Hackler Championship

Duff Leads Charge Inside Top 15 Individuals

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - North Florida men's golf got the opening round started on the road with a share of eighth through 18 holes at the General Hackler Championship hosted by Coastal Carolina on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys had a few rebound rounds from its rotational group, as Jason Duff and Chase Carroll both sit in the top 25 overall. Duff scored three birdies, including back-to-back on eight and nine, while Carroll had back-to-back birdies as well to finish even-par and 1-over par respectively.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Duff scored three birdies over six holes and a nearly flawless back nine to lead UNF to a even-par score and a share of 13th overall.
  • The redshirt junior is currently third in par-three average score (1-under).
  • Carroll is shortly behind with a pair of birdies to go 1-over 73 tied for 22nd overall.
  • He has the most pars of any Osprey and top four in the tournament with 13 total.
  • Davis Lee got three birdies and an eagle to be just outside the top 25 at 2-over 74.
  • Robbie Higgins is the next man up with a pair of birdies and an eagle as well to be 3-over 75 in the top 50.
  • The seniors are two of seven players to notch an eagle during the first round on Monday.
  • Andrew Riley was the final Osprey to finish for the team with a score of 5-over 77.
  • Filippo Serra had the best score of any UNF player as an unattached individual with a score of 2-under 70 sitting tied for sixth overall.
  • The redshirt freshman has the second most birdies through 18 holes with six total.
  • Both Lee and Serra are two of three players to lead field in par-five average at 4-under.
  • The Ospreys placed in the top three for average scores on par-three (2-over) and par-five (7-under) holes.
  • UNF is also the only team in the 14-team field two have two eagles recorded on the first day.
