Higgins Sits Top Three Through Second Round at The Hayt

Ospreys Tied For Seventh as Team

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida men's golf saw big-time rounds from seniors Robbie Higgins and Nick Gabrelcik on the second day of play at The Hayt hosted by Sawgrass Country Club on Sunday afternoon.

Higgins highlighted the round for the Ospreys with five birdies to card 3-under 69 on the day to jump into the top three on the player's leaderboard. Nick Gabrelcik continues to fight with his score not far off at 2-under 70 to put him at 1-over 145 combined tied for 16th overall.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Higgins sits with a top-five par-four average score at even-par and a top-five par-five average score at 5-under.
  • With a 3-under 141 score and tied for third, the senior looks to be in contention for his second individual title in Ponte Vedra Beach this season.
  • Gabrelcik bounced back with three birdies and only one hole worse than par to be 1-over 145 through two rounds.
  • The fellow senior from Trinity, Fla., leads the team in total pars with 23 combined after 36 holes.
  • Jason Duff notched two birdies and had par on six of the last seven holes to be 10-over 154 combined.
  • Andrew Riley improved from his opening round with four birdies over a span of seven holes, while also reaching par on the last seven holes for a 3-over 75 round.
  • Filippo Serra rounded out the Osprey group with a repeat 8-over 80 score from the first day of play.
  • Chase Carroll had a fantastic stretch in the second round scoring five birdies to stay in the top 10 as an unattached individual at 1-under 143.
  • He continues to dominate par-three holes with a top-three average at even-par.
  • Davis Lee and Justin Ross both made improvements as well for unattached Osprey scores of 8-over 152 and 12-over 156 respectively.
  • UNF entered the top three for birdies with 29 total through a pair of rounds.
  • Higgins and Carroll both lead the team with nine combined for each of them.
  • They also recorded 104 total pars, while being third as a team in par-five average at 11-under.
